ELC Electroconsult awarded new geothermal contract in Tanzania: the Ngozi Project

ELC Electroconsult S.p.A. has been awarded a new contract by Tanzania Geothermal Development Company Limited (TGDC) for the management and supervision of the exploratory drilling campaign at the Ngozi geothermal field, in south-western Tanzania. Under the agreement, ELC will oversee the drilling of three slim wells and carry out the pre-feasibility assessment of the Ngozi geothermal reservoir, reinforcing the company's long-standing presence in East Africa's geothermal sector. The assignment is structured in two phases. During the Base Period, ELC's team will provide full project management of the drilling and well-testing contracts and direct on-site oversight of drilling operations for the three wells, from spud to well-testing and close-out reporting. A dedicated capacity-building programme will accompany the works, transferring drilling, geoscience and reservoir-engineering know-how to TGDC technical staff. The findings from the campaign will be used to update the Ngozi conceptual model, supporting TGDC in identifying the most promising areas for future development of the field. An Optional Period is also envisaged for carrying out the Prefeasibility Study. The contract confirms ELC Electroconsult's role as a trusted international partner for geothermal resource development, combining technical excellence in drilling supervision and reservoir geoscience with a strong commitment to knowledge transfer and local capacity building.
