In our Feasibility Studies, we provide a preliminary project design with sufficient detail to outline the main project layout, technical features, costs, construction timelines, expected benefits, and potential risks, including environmental impacts. We evaluate project viability using relevant key performance indicators, benchmarking their sensitivity against main project variables, and comparing different layout alternatives and technical solutions.

ELC provides assistance to clients during the entire tendering process providing clarification to prospective bidders, evaluating the bids and negotiating terms and conditions on behalf of the client. ELC perform bids evaluation process based on criteria such as cost, quality, and adherence to the project schedule compliance with Employer’s Requirements and technical specifications. The contract negotiation is implemented aligning the contract terms to the client’s goals and project requirements.

A detailed design review for Contracts where the construction design is performed by the Contractor is a thorough assessment of the Contractor’s design documents, including drawings calculations, method statements, project planning and specifications, to verify that they align with the contract’s terms. This process also identifies any potential issues, discrepancies, or opportunities for improvement. The main aim is to confirm that the design fulfills all necessary requirements, standards, and project goals before moving forward with construction, thereby reducing risks and improving the overall efficiency of the project.

Project Commissioning

Additionally, environmental monitoring and management plans facilitate continuous assessment of environmental parameters and the implementation of adaptive mitigation strategies, while resettlement plans aim to minimize the socio-economic disruptions associated with population displacement through structured relocation frameworks. This service includes activities aimed at ensuring efficient project management, optimization of workflows, information exchange and productivity, reduction of related costs/time, thus significantly improving project accuracy and quality. Specific software and methodologies are used to create comprehensive digital models of all infrastructures. From Feasibility to Construction Phase close out and handover, ELC Provides consulting services by using BIM methodology at different Level of Development.

ELC brings extensive technical expertise in a range of mapping software, along with experience in data gathering, entry, and conversion; dataset development, modification, deployment; spatial analysis, web map creation, cartography, and remote sensing. This Service supports the customer in the needs of strategic planning, data visualization or customized geo-spatial solutions.

Numerical Modelling in Geomechanics

ELC has a strong background in using numerical analysis to model the behavior of complex civil structures, relying on trusted software tools like FLAC, RocScience products, and the Plaxis Suite. Their team of geotechnical engineers goes a step further by integrating these commercial tools with custom-developed codes and spreadsheets, ensuring they can address every challenge that may arise in geotechnical engineering. On a daily basis, ELC conducts simulations and both linear and non-linear FEM/FDM analyses to understand how geotechnical structures behave under different conditions. FLAC, with its explicit finite difference method, is particularly effective for modeling large deformations and material collapse. It is widely used in applications like slope stability analysis, foundation design, dynamic testing, and soil-structure interaction studies. By combining FLAC with other specialized software like RocScience and Plaxis, ELC provides tailored, advanced solutions for even the most complex geotechnical problems.

Hydraulic Modeling

ELC is specialized in hydraulic modeling for the design of dams and hydropower / multipurpose projects, employing various advanced software tools. These models enable the numerical simulation of river flow dynamics, sediment transport and floodplain behavior, thereby ensuring the efficiency and safety of the design process. The analysis of open-channels flow dynamics, flood risk assessment, dam break simulations, reservoir operation optimization and environmental flow evaluation are typical studies where hydraulic modeling tools are applied. We offer engineering solutions that prioritize both the technical performance and environmental sustainability of hydropower projects. Our expertise in these modeling techniques guarantees that each project adheres to the highest regulatory and safety standards.

Hydrological Modeling

The hydrological assessment is a fundamental task in the design of hydropower and multipurpose projects. ELC provides wide experience in the application of state-of-the-art numerical analysis, suited for simulation of complex hydrology in large river basins and small urban or natural watersheds. The adopted models allow to simulate watershed responses and rainfall-runoff processes, starting from large data gathering under several forms, including hydrological, meteorological, glaciological and remote sensing data.

The services performed in the hydrological field include: peak flood estimation, evaluation of water budget, water resources management in river basins with multiple users and analysis of potential effects of climate change.

Simsen Hydraulic Transient Modelling

ELC utilize Simsen tool to perform detailed analyses of hydraulic transients in complex water systems. This advanced simulation software enables us to model the dynamic behavior of hydropower plants, pumping stations, and pipeline networks with high accuracy. By simulating scenarios such as load rejection, turbine start-up, and valve operations, we identify potential risks like pressure surges or water hammer effects. Through detailed modeling of hydraulic machines, we can also assess overspeed during transients, as well as evaluate frequency regulation and system stability aspects.

Integrated Geoscientific 3D Modelling, Reservoir Analysis and Numerical Modelling for Geothermal Reservoir Characterization and Evaluation
